Kimberly Edds
My name is Kimberly Edds (formerly Michelena) and I am running for the Board of Directors for the Yorba Linda Villages Homeowners Association.
I have been an owner in our community for 10 years and the recent activity by the HOA Board, our property managers, and our contractors have made it unequivocally clear that we need a change in leadership that puts our community members first.
We are all equal members – and we must all be treated equally.
We need leadership focused on:
Increased transparency and accountability
Providing accurate and timely information to ensure homeowners have the ability to protect their investment
Encouraging homeowner participation instead of intentionally circumventing the law to silence the voices of homeowners, including listening to every homeowner who wants to be heard at Board Meetings and holding in person meetings on community property
Ensuring fiscal responsibility at every level from key replacements to multi-million-dollar construction projects, including mandating a competitive bidding process for contractors and rigorous oversight to prevent wasting precious homeowner dues and avoid the current cycle of special assessments on top of our monthly dues
Conscientious planning for our community’s future which includes preventative maintenance and regular communication with homeowners regarding community-wide repair and upgrade priorities
A top to bottom evaluation of all of our current vendors and a reassessment of current contracts to ensure we are properly managing costs while maintaining our properties.
I am a former investigative reporter with more than 12 years experience as a crisis communications expert for law enforcement. I understand what it takes to uncover the truth and demand accountability.
That’s exactly what our community needs – and we need it now.
I respectfully ask your support for my candidacy for the HOA Board of Directors.
Kimberly

Art Darien
Hello Everyone,
My name is Art Darien, and I am running for the Yorba Linda Villages Board of Directors. I am employed as a Senior Research Chemist. My decision to run is based upon the lack of transparency, accountability, respect, and community interaction that our current Board has shown. Being a Board Member means not only listening to the homeowners; but allowing everyone to have a voice and have it respected. It is also important in this role to understand our Finances/Budget, and be able to responsibly manage and maintain the finances of our Community.
My goals for the community are:
Maintain transparency and accountability between the Community and the Board, and rebuild respect and trust among us.
Review the financials of our Association and ensure that the decisions made are fiscally responsible. Eliminate Emergency and/or Supplemental Assessments that are not pre-approved by the majority of homeowners as per The Villages CC&Rs.
Review the CC&Rs and update as needed if homeowners approve by a majority vote as permitted by The Villages CC&Rs.
Complete a full assessment of our property to determine what work needs to be done and whether or not the work needed is routine or an emergency.
Review our vendors, and utilizing input from experts within The Villages community, determine which vendors should receive contracts with us.
Ensure that The Villages Clubhouse is available for official meetings of the HOA and/or its committees. In the rare cases that it may not be available, determine a location in Yorba Linda that may be utilized for this purpose.
I have been a lived in Yorba Linda since 1986 and been a homeowner within The Villages since then. I have served on Boards in the past, and have coached basketball, football, baseball, and soccer teams within Yorba Linda
There are many things that can bring discomfort/stress to our lives. Having an HOA Board that ignores the voices and wishes of the majority of the members should not be one of those.
Thanks,
Art Darien
